A much needed.....

.....blast of colour

...as an antidote to all the black and white textile work I have been doing/posting recently

Just when I ......

.....decided to change the focus of this blog from textiles to sketching I have a photo of a finsihed textile piece. It's a piece I have been working on for a while. It looks a little crooked in the photo and the top looks a little ragged but it will be straightened up, finished off and attached to a perspex rod for display.....eventually! I have submitted it and one other piece for the Platform Gallery Open Exhibition later this year. l will hear mid August whether it has been accepted......fingers crossed!

Been thinking....

...long and hard about this blog which is now 6 months old and decided to make a few changes.

On looking back through all the posts it is clear that my original intention/title......A textile artist's progress....has been a little lost. Sketching and drawing and illustration have taken over and the blog has been more and more about this and less and less about my textile work. So in line with the way the blog has evolved and to accompany the launch of my new greetings card website .....KT Mo Designs.........this blog is changing. Out with the old banner...

.....and in with a new banner and a new focus. The blog will be about my own and other's art and illustrative work and of course the moly sketchbook exchange group.
I am still very much continuing with my sewn and knitted textiles and information about them and where they will be on show will be posted on my existing textiles website.

I hope you like the changes and the new website!

Playing...

....always playing with colour and imagery .... this time one of my daughters drawings.

Can you tell I like colour???

Been working on....

....some sketching of initial ideas for the moly exchange group for the red/read moly...Alison had put a wee sketch of red riding hood in her section which made me think about carrying this on into this...

...the wolf's paw prints and the left side of the drawing are not right and need more thought but I quite like the general idea. I'm not used to drawing out of my imagination and am finding it very challenging. I hope that means its good for me.
Also working on a piece to submit for the Clitheroe, Platform Gallery...here's a snippet. It's got to be in the post by the end of this week...and only half done so am feeling a little under pressure.

All this week....

....at the small town of Holmfirth is the Holmfirth Artweek. This is an open exhibition of local artists' work with some selected artists. I and a friend visited yesterday and the wealth of talent and creativity on display was amazing. Best of all the net proceeds are all donated to Macmillan Cancer Support and last year a staggering £35,000....yes thirty five thousand pounds!!!... was raised. To anyone and everyone near enough to pay a visit I would highly recommend it ............ and I'm very pleased to report that the two pieces I submitted have both been sold!!!!

this is a picture of one of the pieces that sold.

Finally managed....

...to complete my moly entry for this month, seen here together with Alison's first drawing in her book.
I have struggled all month to commit pen and crayon to paper but simply had no time left as we have set ourself a month's turnaround for each entry in the moly and I was a tad late even then!!
I have tried to pick up on Alison's style and theme and have loved working with new materials including a 0.05 micron pen which my local art shop claimed didn't exist. I found it though in London at Cass Art, Islington. This is an ab fab artists paradise of a shop with very low prices and a sale on at the moment....I only wish I could have carried a cut price artist easel all the way back to Yorkshire but as the box was taller than me and at least 3 times wider, and I was on the underground and the train and had already been up since 5 am and it was 6 pm at night I had to admit defeat.....I was so tempted though...a full size artists' studio easle for under £25.
